Riding @ Hollister

Over mid-winter break a.k.a. ski week (a week off provided by the school district to encourage you to vacation then rather than pull your kids out of school) we headed to Hollister for a few nights of camping and dirtbike riding. We had never been before but have lots of friends who really like it so thought we'd check it out. Also our regular spot CC Camp was closed due to all the rain we have been getting so we didn't have much of an option. It ended up being really cool. All the trails are one-way - makes me feel so much safer, I always worry about a head-on. There are alot of green and blue trails (they mark them the same as ski trails) which is great for Cameron & Cooper - not as great for Eddie who prefers the black diamond. We were able to take the boys on some amazing trail rides and also got some track riding in.

Us waiting for Dad to decide what way we are going.

The place is really spread out. You ride your bike everywhere- to all the track and trail entrances and even the store. The boys loved riding to the store for an ice cream!

Great view from one of our trail rides.

Another great view.

A little art work while daddy cooks us dinner.

Mom & Cameron hanging around the fire.

Cooper on a night ride...complete with head light.

It was great fun. Cooper did his first ride without training wheels. We have tons of pictures and some video... we will show you that on the next post.

Wheelin

Let's get going Dad!!

Eddie planning the route with Troy

A quick pose - notice I'm hanging on to Cooper :)

Dad & Cameron

Ah...a proud jeep owner.
We all love being able to go wheeling in our new (used) jeep. We traded our Toyota for something we could all ride in. Added bonus - we get to go 4wheelin now. The boys love it. We hit some trails at Cow Mountain in Ukiah - actually a place we also go dirtbiking. They have a 4 wheel play area with logs & rocks to crawl over and some pretty intense wall climbs (we aren't that brave/dumb) also some great trails to wheel on. A new hobby for all of us. Cameron & Cooper were stoked when we got to use the winch to pull a truck out on our first outing. Eddie is excited he talked Troy into buying a jeep as well so we have someone to go with. Always feels better out on the trails if you aren't out there alone! I'm sure you will be seeing a lot more of these pictures in the future :)

Happy Valentine's Day

Preparing their Valentine's for school.

A yummy Valentine's treat. Cooper's favorite - s'mores with homemade grahams and the marsh mellow and chocolate melted in this glass canister. YUMMY! Not to often you get s'mores at a restaurant we are usually making them around the campfire.
Well the Valentine's are all passed out to our school friends and the party's complete. Happy Valentine's Day everyone. (Crap...I gotta run to the store in the morning and get some cards!!)

Super!

Supercross that is. We went to the Supercross @ AT&T Park. We didn't walk the pits this year, the kids thought it was too crowded last year. Our friend Troy did and got the kids a ton of cool posters. We got to see some great racing and even a few good wipe-outs. Oh yeah, and had some $10 cotton candy of course. (I won't even tell you how much the beers cost).

5 minutes till racetime

Ready for it to start

Cameron's favorite part of watching the race

Finally, Cooper got his cotton candy!

Olympic hopefuls???...

The boys and I went ice skating at Snoopy's Home Ice owned by the late Charles Schultz of the Peanuts comics. We hadn't been in about a year but they both got right on and did pretty well. It was Cameron's first attempt at hockey skates and he liked them. We skated, did the hokey poky and drank some hot chocolate by the fireplace. It was so crowded I think everyone was thinking the same thing, a nice way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Some nice lady offered to take our picture

A quick pose

Well, I doubt we are Olympic bound but we'll have fun in the meantime!

Break in the Rain

After days of wet, wet weather the boys really needed to get out and burn some energy. Even though the rain was falling on Saturday we loaded the bikes and headed to Spring Lake in Santa Rosa. We stopped for coffee on the way and got soaked running in Starbucks. Somehow by the time we arrived at the lake there was a quick break in the rain. We made it around the whole trail without a drop and even the sun shinning. It was amazing....(I think we should have bought a lotto ticket that day).

A quick pose in the SUN!

OK, why the heck are my pix loading sideways?? Someday when I'm not rushing to just throw some pix up here I will figure it out. In the mean time don't hurt your neck looking.

Of course we had to stop and walk out on this dock. I think rain or shine we would have rode a bit, it was perfect to let Cam & Coop burn some energy!

Cooper's Pictures

Cooper decided to go around the house a photograph things. He took about 100 pictures. It was so cool loading them and seeing all the things that caught his eye. Random shots from 3+ feet high. He is quite the photographer!
